Fort Myers, Florida - Authorities say a man struggling with staff at a Lee County mental health center died after police shocked him with a Taser stun gun.
Authorities say 45-year-old Steven Cunningham collapsed yesterday in the Ruth Cooper Center for Behavioral Health Care parking lot after being hit with the stun gun.
He later died at a Fort Myers hospital.
Ruth Cooper Center staff called police when Cunningham became hostile.
A police spokeswoman says an officer responding to the disturbance shot Cunningham with his Taser.
The stun guns shoot 50,000 volts of electricity into a target.
The officer is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
