More than 200 million eggs sold in nine US states are being recalled over salmonella fears.
Rose Acre Farms, based in Seymour, Indiana, issued a voluntary recall of the 206,749,248 eggs because of possible contamination.
At least 22 illnesses have been reported so far, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The eggs reached consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
They were sold in various stores and restaurants, including Food Lion and Walmart.
The brand names that were sold under include Country Daybreak, Crystal Farms, Coburn Farms, Sunshine Farms, Glenview and Great Value.
'FDA is advising consumers not to eat recalled eggs produced by Rose Acre Farms' Hyde County farm. Eggs sold under multiple brand names in 9 states,' FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said on Saturday.
'FDA testing determined that these eggs are connected to 22 illnesses caused by Salmonella Braenderup.
'Consumers with these eggs shouldn't eat them. Throw them away or return them to place of purchase for credit or refund.'
The eggs being recalled have the plant number P-1065 and the Julian date range of 011 through 102 printed on the carton.
It is the largest egg recall since 2010 when a salmonella outbreak saw hundreds of people get sick, which led to the recall of half a billion eggs.
