The first victim of the Friday's terror attack in Sweden has been identified as an 11-year old girl who was on her way home from school when the Islamist fanatic struck.
Her mother had previously released a desperate appeal for information about her whereabouts on Facebook.
The child is thought to have been walking home from school along Drottninggatan high street at the time.
Following a request from the family, MailOnline will not to disclose her name or picture at this time.
A family friend posted a picture of the girl on Facebook with the message: 'On her mother's request, please share.'
She added: 'She may have been hiding. In my experience, children often do that in those situations.'
When approached by MailOnline, the friend said: 'I'm not going to comment out of respect for the family.'
The girl was described as wearing an aqua-marine parka coat, purple trousers and a blue rucksack.
There was speculation on social media that she was one of the victims seen in a photograph taken at the scene.
A relative told Expressen that police have visited the girl's house asking to collect her DNA.
The identity of the victim was confirmed by her family to the newspaper.
There are fears that other children and babies may have been injured or killed in the attack after reports that a pram was seen thrown into the air by the rampaging lorry.
