JACKSON, Mississippi - Jackson police are conducting an internal investigation after a man shot with a Taser gun died early Wednesday morning.
Police said 21-year-old Rafael Forbes and Timothy Lewis were spotted driving erratically in West Jackson.
Officers said the men took off on foot, but Forbes and Lewis were caught in a yard on Harriotte Avenue.
A Taser gun was used to subdue both men, police said, but Forbes started having trouble breathing almost immediately.
He was taken to Central Mississippi Medical Center, where he died at about 12:15 a.m. An autopsy is planned for Wednesday night.
Chief Shirlene Anderson said the officers were members of JPD's gun interdiction team and started using Taser guns earlier this year.
Police said they found a bag of marijuana and more than $1,000 in the car the men were driving. They are still looking for a third person who was inside the car.
The officers, meanwhile, are on administrative duty.
